Worlds trials, AGM results, and other miscellanea
Friday 25 September, 2009
Worlds trials will be held at the university on Sunday, the 4th of October. If you'd like to trial (which you should, regardless of whether or not you're sure you'll be able to attend), please email Jess Chiew at treasurer@mudsonline.net by Thursday, 1st of October. For more information on the tournament itself, which is being held at Koç University in Turkey, please see the official tournament website.
We'd also like to wish all those in the MUDS contingent heading to the Australian Women's Debating Championships in Sydney the best of luck.
At the beginning of this month, MUDS held its Annual General Meeting. Thanks for everyone who attended and made reaching quorum so easy! Several sensible and long-overdue consitutional amendments were passed, including: non-profit provisions required by the Union; the allowing for associate members to debate in the finals of internal competitions; and clarified trials process provisions, changes to the application of affirmative action, and removal of the bracket system for team swaps in intervarsity tournaments. Moreover, a new committee for 2010 was elected. Their terms will begin on the 1st of December.
2010 Committee

Finally, be sure to come to the Hamish Malcolm Cup Grand Final on Tuesday the 6th. It should be an exceptionally high quality debate - and will be followed by plenty of free beer at The Clyde afterwards (those who attended the Public Debate will know that we are not lying about this).
