Welcome back to Semester 2
Sunday 26 July, 2009
The first MUDS meeting for Semester 2 will be happening at 5.30pm on Tuesday, the 28th of July in the Hercus Theatre (our normal meeting place). If you're reading this, it's pretty likely you have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night, so come along and join us for more of the action-packed excitement you've come to expect from MUDS. Be reunited with old friends; regale us with inevitably uninteresting stories about your break. Plus, you'll be introduced to the thrilling world of British Parliamentary debating - useful, perhaps even vital if you are not familiar with this style of debating, a bit redundant otherwise. But come along regardless, you never know what you might miss out on.
Also - OMG the website has been slightly altered! I know you already noticed, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.
Also, also - congratulations and commiserations to our three new committee members: Jen Ames as Socials Officer, Erin Clements as Public Debates Officer, and Rachael Gore as Sponsorship Officer. They will serve out the rest of their portfolios' terms (until the 1st of December), although no one really does anything in the last month or so.
Also, also, also - people from MUDS recently participated in two tournaments, ADAM and Australs, and some even did okay. The team mahmoudahmadinejad@Ayatollah: Can't get to Lady Gaga concert - dead girl blocking way which was comprised of two MUDS people (Seamus Coleman and Phil Barker) plus some other guy actually won ADAM, beating the the team from Monash that would eventually go on to win Australs. MUDS also had a team break at Australs (Melbourne 2, with Laura Bellamy, Jen Ames, and Daniel McNamara), although they were beaten by a team from Monash which did not eventually go on to win. Duncan Campbell broke as an adjudicator as well. Much fun was had - particularly by Michael Ciesielski, who was Tab Director for both tournaments.
