Hello everyone!
1. MUDS Weekly Meeting: Tuesday 29th March, 5:30 pm, HERCUS THEATRE
Back in our old lecture theatre! PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO DEBATES THIS WEEK!
On Tuesday at 5:30pm in the Hercus Theatre, a representative from the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) will present their beginner adjudicator training. As well as teaching you how to adjudicate debates at university, taking a short online adjudication test after the training will also accredit you to adjudicate the DAV Schools Competition, where adjudicators are paid $44 or more per night. Whether you're looking to adjudicate the Schools Competition, interested in fulfilling your team's adjudication requirement for the 3-v-3 Cup, want to learn more about debating, or are just curious, you're sure to find the training useful.
Bookings are not essential, but would be appreciated to give us an idea of numbers as there are some printed materials that we provide to attendees: please RSVP to muds@mudsonline.net.
What to bring:
Yourself
Pen and paper
OPTIONAL: $10 - If you decide to join the Debaters Association of Victoria, the membership fee is $10 if you pay at the training, or $15 if you elect instead to have it taken out of your first adjudication payment.
There will also be concurrent training provided for those who are already accredited with the DAV or who do not wish to participate in adjudicator training.
We highly recommend you come along for the training as it will be a great opportunity to improve your advanced debating skills and get some early preparation in for the 3v3 competition and EASTERS!
2. EASTERS Expression of Interest!
It's not too late to express interest in attending EASTERS, and you don't have to be 100% sure you want to go to express interest. You can find out more about EASTERS here: http://www.adelaideeasters.com.au/, or on our website main page where we published last week's newsletter containing a short spiel about it. If you'd like to express your interest, fill in this quick form: http://www.mudsonline.net/external-competitions.
Thanks for reading! See you Tuesday!
