Additional resources

The internet is vast and there are many other websites containing valuable resources for those at any level of debating. This page contains links to any sites that we stumble across and find to be particularly useful or relevant.

Debaters Association of Victoria, resources page
The DAV runs the Victorian schools debating competition. Their website contains many excellent resources, especially for beginners.
An excellent guide, containing much valuable information for beginners and intermediates, especially for the style of British Parliamentary.
A website that lists debate motions from Worlds tournaments and other tournaments from all over the world (including Australia). An amazing resource for all debaters.

News
These are the main news sources that those debaters who seem to know everything about everything use. Of course, a subscription is more useful than the websites, but beggars (or university students) can't be choosers.

Victorian broadsheet newspaper. Run by communists (vaguely left-leaning).
Australian national broadsheet. Despite being owned by Rupert Murdoch, provides excellent in-depth analysis of national issues.
Highly-respected British newspaper. Good for a typically left-wing, British, defeatist slant on international issues.
Weekly British publication, that claims to be a newspaper, yet looks like a magazine. Unrivalled in its comprehensive analysis of international affairs. Check here if you want to find articles about little known Latin American countries and arguments about why the Iraq war is good.
America's finest news source.
